Trivial Pursuit is widely know board game that, as the name suggests, uses trivia to create an engaging and competitive activity. In this project, we were instructed to design an edition of this popular game under the theme of the history of Canadian graphic designers.
One of the first steps was to create an updated version of the logo. With the addition of the history of Canada’s graphic designers as the new theme, a clear and recognizable symbol Canada seemed appropriate.
Therefore, taking inspiration from Canada’s federal logo, where the national flag is incorporated into the typography, a flag was used in the final design using a similar layout. The typography was kept modern and bold with typeface designed by a Canadian designer called Davis Sans.
For the design of the game box, a layered gradient of red ellipsis resemble the action of traveling back in time and the each of the layers feature famous Canadian logos that follow the descending eclipses.
The game board and playing cards feature the gradient ellipsis that continue the representation of the passage of time, and traditionally geometric features of these compotes have been made more rounded and overall more flat.
