The brief for this project stated that we must create a household gadget or accessory that adds functionality or aesthetics via a metal product. The Swoop Shelf is a decorative shelf used individually or in groups to create a feature wall.
The shelf is constructed of 16-gauge cold rolled sheet metal. Each of the two sheets had holes drilled in the appropriate locations for mounting and then bent to the desired radius. Once prepped, the sheets were spot welded along the front edge and ground till smooth. Finally, the entire piece was powder coated with a matte black finish.
